The Kahala Bridal Showcase

Once again, The Kahala Hotel and Resort held their Bridal Showcase to highlight the property's commitment to elegant and elite wedding events.  Guests entering the Maile Ballroom were greeted with champagne and h'ordervs to enjoy while mingling with the hotel's preferred vendors.

We took inspiration from the store windows of New York City and created an art piece displaying all our brides from 2008.  There was also space to create a gallery of canvases from recent Kahala weddings.

 Across at the Waialae Ballroom it was Club Kahala with a lounge atmosphere.  Being the exclusive florist for the hotel, Florist Grand had the task of creating floral splendor in every wedding venue. Evan Morita, along with Joseph Reyes, took it over the top and produced various looks with every bride in mind.  The show stopper was the ceremony and reception set up at Kahala o ke Kai.  It was beautiful by daylight, but at night, it was breathtaking.

Don't mess with "The Don"

The Moana Surfrider is a gorgeous place for bridal photos, but it is also one of the busiest lobbies in Waikiki.  When photographing Heather and Jon before their beachside ceremony we had the help of Heather's dad--a.k.a "The Godfather."  He worked crowd control trying to keep passing tourists out of our way.  He played the part of tough muscle rather well, but he really was a sweetheart of a guy just trying to get the best for his daughter.  Heather and Jon were married at the Diamond Lawn on October 12.

Jump on 3

"Can we do a jumping picture?"

Chris and Diandra had a cool bridal party dressed in black and white for their wedding at the Kahala Hotel and Resort on October 12.  Chris requested a jumping shot, so everyone was told this was a one-take shot and to jump on 3.  They did not disappoint!

Mom's loving care

The Ihilani Resort was the meeting place for Tim's family from the east coast and Emi's family from Japan.  The resort also fulfilled the bride's request for a tropical wedding destination.  Emi's mom created a special ring pillow topped with wedding bears, and she held it carefully on her lap as the couple exchanged their vows in a very intimate ceremony at the gazebo.  The Foyer of the Ocean Ballroom was the perfect setting for a grand dinner table for 20.  Emi and Tim were married on October 11.

The happiest place on Earth

Jamie and Byron proved that it's a small world after all by bringing Disneyland to the Hilton Hawaiian Village on October 11.  The entire bridal party changed into costumes of Disney princesses and princes to create a storybook atmosphere for the reception in the Tapa ballrooms.  Jamie made a beautiful Belle and Byron was a charming Beast Prince.  The fantasy was complete with a castle cake that towered over the couple.  

Aloha y'all!

"Aloha Y'all."  That's what it said on the custom made beach bags for Brandi and Brad's wedding on October 6.  Brandi was a sweet southern beauty from Savannah, Georgia, and she was surrounded by a group of Georgia peaches who were excited to help her get ready for the ceremony.  After the ceremony at the Pavilion of the Turtle Bay Resort, family and guests enjoyed a spectacular north shore sunset while they celebrated with cocktails on the lawn.

"I had so much fun!"

Kelly and Trent planned a full schedule for their wedding on October 4, and they selected some of the best in the wedding industry--Hawaii Prince Hotel, Central Union Church, Aloha Wedding Planners.  The day began with photos of the bride at the Hawaii Prince followed by formal photography at La Pietra. After the ceremony at the Atherton Chapel, the couple returned to find the Prince Ballroom transformed by draping and pink lighting accents to give the room a softer romantic feel.  When asked, Kelly said," I had so much fun!"  That's what it's all about.  Enjoying your wedding day.

Enjoying every minute

Often times with destination brides the first time you meet them is on the wedding day when they answer the resort room door.  It was that way at Lindsay and Kevin's wedding at the North Shore's Turtle Bay. Immediately it was clear from Lindsay's lively personality and honest sense of humor that it was going to be a fun day.  The celebration on October 4 included just family members with the bride's brother performing the ceremony.  Capturing great images is always our goal, but it's easier when the bride is enjoying every minute. 

Look out Tom Jones

Judging from first impressions, Bob seemed mature, polite and reserved, almost the opposite of his bride Eiko who charmed us with her vivacious personality.  But after the intimate ceremony on October 1st at the Halekulani Hau Terrace lanai, Bob was ready to celebrate, and he let the hidden entertainer inside of him loose. The newly weds brought their guests to their feet with a grand entrance with a lot of flare and energy.  Eiko even changed her hairdo to compliment the more playful mood.  This couple surely has a lifetime of fun ahead of them.
